The process NCCFD will be using is identical to the process used by the Penn Valley Fire District two years ago and the Herlong Volunteer Fire Department of Susanville during similar Mail Ballot elections.  Ballots will be collected in a special secure P O Box, the Nevada County Elections Office will verify the signatures on each ballot just as it does for general elections.  Votes will be counted by the League of Women Voters with oversight and certification provided by an  independent auditor -- McSweeney & Associates, APC, of Grass Valley.  No NCCFD employee or Board Member will even see a ballot.
