NCCFD has a very strong record of conservative financial management. Over the past 3 years, the District has:  

·         Reduced overhead and administrative costs by not hiring a new Battalion Chief to fill the position that was vacated through attrition.

·         Reduced firefighting staff to the bare minimum necessary to maintain current service levels by not hiring 3 firefighter positions that became open through attrition.

·         All District employees have foregone cost-of-living salary increases for the past 4 years

·         The Firefighters have experienced a pay cut in their salaries of 7%.

·         All District employees now share in the cost of their medical insurance premiums

·         The District is now closing 3 fire stations on a part-time basis (brown-outs) to reduce costs.
